STUDIO ELEMENTARE DELL'EQUAZIONE DI UNA CONICA

Summary. This article expounds an elementary study of conics from a general viewpoint, as is carried out in a fourth form of "Liceo Scientifico" (17/18-year-old students). Besides presenting reduction to canonical form based on traslation and/or rotation of the reference system, it also offers an elementary proof of a formula concerning the recognition of a conic as it is explained in the texts adopted in our "Liceo" but never proved, as far as we know.
